Potatoes with Hyderabadi (Telangana) Masala

Ingredients:
Potatoes - 500 gms
Onions - 1
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Lemon Juice - 1 lemon
Curry leaves -  few
Oil for frying

For Masala:
Red chillies - 8
Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1/2 tbsp
Coconut - 1/4 cup (grated)
garlic cloves - 4 (chopped)

Method:

  • Dry roast and grind coarsely the masala ingredients.
  • Peel, dice and parboil potatoes with turmeric powder and salt.
  • Heat the oil and deep fry potatoes and keep aside.
  • Fry the sliced onions in the same oil till brown.
  • Fry curry leaves for few seconds and remove from oil.
  • Now put all the fried and masala ingredients in a bowl and toss well.
  • Garnish with fried curry leaves.
